Dehydration
We often mistake dehydration for fine lines and ageing. When our skin is dehydrated fine lines can appear across the forehead and around the eyes. These are often confused for expression lines, wrinkles and aging. Adequate hydration ensures that our skin is kept supple, juicy and plump.
Cold or dry climates, heating and air conditioning, long-haul air travel and illness contribute to skin dehydration. To achieve and maintain optimal hydration drink lots of water and try keep coffee and alcohol to a minimum – they’re major dehydrators.
When it comes to skin care look for products that contain hyaluronic acid. Layer a hydrating serum (I 💙 iS Clinical Hydracool Serum underneath a water-heavy, light-weight moisturizer (my fav iS Clinical Reparative Moisture Emulsion)
It’s best to avoid harsh cleansers, alcohol based toners and overuse of active products with ingredients such as aha’s, benzoyl peroxide and retinoids as these can make the condition much worse.
Exfoliate two to three times per week to slough away the build up of dead skin cells and enhance deeper penetration of your hydrators, serums and moisturizers.
Last but not least apply a hydrating cream or mask at least once a week (I sleep with my Optiphi Hydra Derm HA mask every night♥️) for instant hydration.
